BLAIS Announces Professional Appointments

It is our pleasure to welcome the following staff members to the Barnard Library and Academic Information Services:

Harvey Cohen, Manager of Audiovisual Technology Services
Harvey brings close to 20 years of audiovisual experience to the College, having worked at Columbia University, the Hospital for Special Surgery, and most recently at the Law Offices of Wilson, Elser, Moskowitz, Edelman & Decker, LLP. Harvey has expertise in audio, video, and web conferencing technologies and will oversee audiovisual and technology services for classroom and co-curricular events and programming.

 

 

 

Vani Natarajan, Research and Instruction Librarian for Humanities and Area Studies
Vani comes to Barnard from the Brooklyn Public Library where she served as a Young Adult Librarian and mentor to participants of the Multicultural Internship Program. She also worked as a co-organizer of Documenting Struggle: Three Radical New York Archives, a project to address the preservation and distribution of social movement history in text, audiovisual, and other formats. She has a BA in English Literature and Creative Writing from Swarthmore College and an MLS from the University of Pittsburgh.  She is fluent in French and conversant in Spanish and Tamil. She will serve as the personal librarian to students and faculty in English and Comparative Literature, Anthropology, African Studies, Asian and Middle Eastern Cultures, French, German, Italian, Slavic, and Spanish and Latin American Cultures.

Alexis Seeley, Manager of Instructional Media & Technology Services
Alexis joins us from Adelphi University where she managed their media center, providing direct support to students and faculty in the creation of video projects, and served as a media technologist at the University's Faculty Center for Professional Excellence. She has expertise in video production, podcasting,  web conferencing and a wide range of web 2.0 applications. Alexis will manage the Sloate Media Center and support the use of innovative technologies by students and faculty.
 

 

Megan Wacha, Research and Instruction Librarian for Media and the Performing Arts
A longtime member of the Barnard Community, Megan Wacha joins us as the Research and Instructional Services Librarian for Media and the Performing Arts.  In this newly created position, she serves as the personal librarian to students and faculty in Dance, Theatre, Film and Music and is responsible for the media collection. She holds an MSLIS from Pratt Institute, an MA in Performance Studies from New York University, and an AB in Dance and Psychology from Barnard College.
