Barnard Students in Mathematics Class, 1897

On November 17-19, Barnard College will host the 13th Annual Meeting of the National Numeracy Network (NNN). The ERC’s Associate Director, Alisa Rod, is the contact person for the meeting. The meeting will begin with a keynote address from Barnard College President Sian Beilock about Math Anxiety, and will also include 8 Facilitated discussion sessions and 23 Papers on teaching, learning, and assessing Quantitative Reasoning (QR), Quantitative Literacy (QL) and Statistical Literacy (SL). The conference emphasizes quantitative literacy, but may also be of interest to faculty, educators, and students interested in empirical reasoning more broadly (including qualitative data).

Registration is required, and there is a discount for Barnard/Columbia affiliated individuals. If students are interested in attending President Beilock’s talk (but not the rest of the conference), they can contact Alisa Rod directly (arod@barnard.edu).
