Novelist, poet, dancer, choreographer, playwright, and Barnard alumna Ntozake Shange, class of 1970, has created an amazing body of work. We invite you to browse Reading Shange, our new display of her books, curated by librarian Vani Natarajan on the second floor of the library. You'll find her choreopoems, chapbooks, novels, picture books, and images from the Barnard Archives, among other treasures.
Make sure to catch an exciting series of events next week in honor of Shange:
- Performing Shange (2/14), a conversation between Shange and dance artist Dianne McIntyre, followed by a student performance of Shange's work, led by music producer and Barnard Center for Research on Women Alumnae Fellow Ebonie Smith ’07.
- Worlds of Shange (2/15), a conference featuring Jennifer DeVere Brody, Farah Jasmine Griffin, Alexis Pauline Gumbs ’04, Vanessa K. Valdés, and more, all discussing Shange's work
