Barnard Library welcomes Silvia Bergamaschi, a visiting librarian from Alma Mater Studiorum – Università di Bologna – Ravenna Campus. Silvia has a degree in Italian literature from the Università di Ca’ Foscari, Venezia, as well as graduate and postgraduate degrees and certificates in Archival Studies, Codicology, and Medieval Latin palaeography.
Silvia is participating in a program of "staff mobility" developed by the European Community and sponsored by the Università di Bologna. The program enables librarians to visit libraries in different countries to observe different practices, adopt new or improve existing skills, and enhance their language skills.
She currently serves as a public services/serials librarian at the Università di Bologna – Ravenna Campus, which has undergraduate and graduate programs in law, environmental sciences, architecture, and cultural heritage. At Barnard, her focus is on the provision of library services and open access initiatives. She is interested in learning more about the personal librarian program, the empirical reasoning lab, and On Our Terms, the undergraduate journal the Library launched in collaboration with the Athena Center and the Center for Digital Research and Scholarship.
