Applications are open for the Pine Tree Scholars Program

August 24, 2016

Applications are now open for the 2016-2017 Pine Tree Scholars Program! The program, which takes place on ten Fridays during the academic school year, introduces Columbia and Barnard graduate and undergraduate students to the crafts associated with fine book production, such as typography, letterpress printing, bookbinding, and papermaking, as well as to the rare and art book trades. Most of these sessions include a hands-on component but no prior experience is necessary. The program is run by Barnard Library archivist Shannon O’Neill, Teresa Harris of Avery Library, and Karla Nielsen of the Rare Book and Manuscript Library. To find out more about the program and the short application process, visit its page on the Columbia University Libraries website.
