Article by Barnard & Columbia libraries administrators named editor's pick

Barnard Library Dean Lisa Norberg, Associate Dean Alexis Seeley and Columbia Center for Digital Research and Scholarship director Rebecca Kennison's article "A Scalable and Sustainable Approach to Open Access," in Educause Review was named editor's pick of the September 15 issue.

The article whittles Kennison and Norberg, writing as as KN Consultants' similarly titled 80+-page white paper "A Scalable and Sustainable Approach to Open Access Publishing and Archiving for Humanities and Social Sciences," into 1,100 words for Educause's IT in higher education-focused readership. The authors argue for "an approach to funding infrastructure for scholarly communication that is fair and open and fully supports new and evolving forms of research output," basically one in which institutions of higher ed financially support scholarship from which they benefit.
