The new Barnard Library policy entails the forgiveness of fines accrued on Barnard Library Materials. If the fined Barnard item is returned, Operations Team staff members working the Circulation & Help Desk will forgive those fines. If the fined Barnard item has been lost, you can still reach out to email@example.com for fine forgiveness. Annually, Quincy Williams clears fines for graduating seniors after receiving that list from the Registar's Office. Otherwise, fines are cleared based on request.
With studies showing that library fines do not increase return rates of lost materials, this program, like many others across the nation, is part of a movement away from library fines. Through this new policy based on a student's request, the Barnard Library strives to support student success by committing to the accessibility of library materials.
Unfortunately, the Barnard policy does not extend to Columbia Libraries as of now. For more information, visit this site or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
