Barnard Library staff are reuniting with our holdings soon after being separated from them for the last two years. We expect to move into the new Milstein Teaching and Learning Center in mid-summer, though it will not be open the public until September. Moving presents some logistical challenges, including restoring books and archival materials to their shelves and the library catalog. Therefore, the Barnard Library will have to suspend access to some services and resources for a time this summer.
Here are some of the key dates:
Due date for Barnard Library materials checked out from Barnard or Butler; borrowers are welcome to renew the items. For Borrow Direct, ReCAP, and HSL/Morningside items, Barnard is temporarily not a pickup location. Barnard community members can still request Borrow Direct, ReCAP, and HSL/Morningside items and pick them up at another Columbia library.
May 18-September 3
Most Barnard materials temporarily unavailable, including at the Barnard Library in the LeFrak Center and the Barnard collection temporarily shelved in the Milstein section of Butler.
Stacks zines will continue to be accessible and circulate until July 27.
You may still return your Columbia Library, ReCAP, Borrow Direct, HSL/Morningside, and ILL materials to the Barnard Library in the LeFrak Center. (As always, ILL item due dates are not cleared until they arrive to Butler Library.)
July 27-August 3
Projected date for BLAIS move from LeFrak and Sulzberger Annex to the Milstein Center for Teaching and Learning. BLAIS physical materials and in-person services suspended until the library reopens, by September 4.
Barnard Library welcomes you back to your collection of books, zines, media, archives, digital resources, tools, and community!
