This week, the Barnard Archives and Special Collections added three new student publications to their Digital Collections. Student worker Kiani Ned ‘16 digitized and added metadata to two issues of Emanon, one issue of Qzine, and six issues of the Well-Woman Newsletter. The Spring 1970 issue of Emanon (pictured above), a literary magazine featuring work from Barnard and Columbia students as well as from Morningside Heights locals, includes three poems by Ntozake Shange '70 (Paulette Williams at the time). Qzine, published in 2005, was a periodical produced by the Barnard College Queer Collective, and includes writing and artwork portraying queerness in different ways. The Well-Woman Newsletter, published by Barnard Health Services from 1994 to 2004, featured columns from students and staff on topics related to women's health. The three publications join a larger group of periodicals on the Digital Collections website, which includes publications ranging in date from 1959 to 2006. The online collection is accompanied by an exhibit of student publications curated by Gabby Smith '16. The exhibit is on display in the Archives (LeFrak Center, Room 114).
