We are sad to part ways with AV Technician Brian Tse who has left Barnard to accept a new position at the University of Illinois Chicago.
Brian became an Extron Authorized Programmer (EAP) during his time at Barnard, and became an expert at deploying, updating, and troubleshooting Extron control systems using Python. This served many classroom spaces at Barnard!
Previously, Brian was an Audio Visual Technician at Skidmore College, and also worked as an Assistant Technical Director at Dixon Place, an off-Broadway theatre in the Lower East Side. We wish Brian all the best!
Meet Bianca S. Smith, our new Library Specialist for Course Reserves!
Raised mostly in Florida, she studied at Flagler College and University of South Florida, earning a B.A. in History and M.A. in Library and Information Science, respectively. Bianca has worked in multiple libraries in multiple states, focusing on digital initiatives and cataloging.
In her spare time, she writes LGBTQ-centric plays and enjoys playing jazz guitar, violin and the ukulele. She is owned by two Ragdoll cats, Shakespeare and Tennessee. At the moment, Bianca is currently reading "Starting from Zero"', a collection of plays by Carolyn Gage." Let's extend a warm welcome to Bianca!

Zines: Natural Rhythms: Sound, Zines, and Documenting a Journey with Listening led by Nicole Campbell | Wednesday, April 7th 6:30-8pm ET
This workshop will explore the liberating power of listening by engaging with selections of music (think Sun Ra) and language (think June Jordan). We’ll also explore the power of self-documenting one’s journey with listening and sound, by referring to zines and making our own.
DHC: Queer Liberalisms & Marginal Mobility | April 9-30th
This speaker series addresses queer migration through the intersectional lens of queer liberalisms, authoritarianism, and marginal mobilities. The DHC hosts four events from various contributors that examine the interconnectedness of queer mobilities across and within different geographical, social and political contexts.

Course Reserves
Barnard Faculty, please visit our Guide to Setting Up Course Reserves to request that the Library provide student access to e-resource versions of required films and texts for your upcoming and current Barnard courses. There will be no print Course Reserves during the summer semester. We lease/purchase and link e-resources where available.
Students, if your materials are not on course reserve, you may also request scans of sections of print items or, if you are close to campus, you can request print items for pickup. For how to do this, here’s the Barnard Library guide for students on Finding & Borrowing Course Materials.

Zines
We'd like to highlight zines from our collection by and about sex workers, including zines by Japanese American trans woman Emi Koyama complicating and problematizing the mainstream discourse on sex trafficking, addressing such topics as "push and pull" analysis of youth in the sex trade, failure of "rescue" model, lessons from domestic violence movement, transgender youth, and many others.
Movement Lab
Movement Lab Post-Bacc Allison Costa will be presenting at elektron.art's Festival Of Spooky Action At A Distance 2021 on April 3rd.
Her piece, "A Certain Slant of Light", was co-created by Feli Navarro and Umlilo Siya Ngcobo during elektron's "fruitful misunderstandings" global online residency program.
