Empirical Reasoning Interns Summer 2019
The undergraduate ERC summer intern will assist in the development of the center's resources. Duties include creating and expanding online tutorials for Excel, R, and/or SPSS, developing tools for accessing and navigating datasets, analyzing assessment records, and other clerical duties as assigned. Interns will also develop and/or gain skills in an applied setting (e.g. by working with faculty members to develop empirically-related instructional content or working on research projects with public partners, such as local non-profits, cultural institutions, or public higher education institutions). Fellows may also have the opportunity to develop and teach their own tutorials to SRI student mentees and/or to faculty members for professional development. All ERC undergraduate summer interns will also be required to complete the following: attendance a Beyond Barnard Internship Program Orientation Session, a Program Agreement Form, a Donor Thank You Note, a designated Beyond Barnard Professional Development Workshop, an Internship Reflection Project (5 minute MillieTalk video, 5 minute Podcast, or 5 page paper), a resume update and elevator pitch meeting with a Beyond Barnard Internship Program Peer Career Advisor.
Stipend: At least $5000 for the summer sessions plus access to on-campus subsidized housing.
Some proficiency with Excel and either R, Stata, Python, ArcGIS, or QGIS is required, although additional training will be provided. Advanced proficiency in one or more data analysis or statistical software preferred. Currently enrolled Barnard student in good standing.
