Visiting Librarian: Torie Quiñonez

Torie comes to us from California, where she was the Presidio Research Center Librarian at El Presidio de Santa Bárbara State Historic Park. Her undergraduate degree from the University of California, Santa Cruz, is in American Studies, with concentrations in Ethnic Studies and Popular Culture. Her thesis research dealt with the intersection of political consciousness and identity formation within the subculture of Chicano punk. She holds a master’s degree in Library and Information Science, with an advanced certificate in Archives. In addition to her background in special collections, independent publishing, and DIY culture work, her research interests include Chicano Studies, the US/Mexico borderlands, the history of California and the West, historical urban studies, and public history.
