Through a series of two workshops - AI Literacy: Understanding GenAI for Teaching Contexts and From Ideation to Impact: Exploring GenAI in Teaching with Design Thinking - participants will build foundational AI literacy and experiment with practical applications tailored to their educational goals. Faculty who complete both workshops will also receive free access to a ChatGPT Team account for the remainder of the semester, and IMATS tech team staff will be available to consult with faculty on their generative AI usage throughout the term.  Workshop Schedule & Descriptions AI Literacy: Understanding GenAI for Teaching Contexts (Workshop 1) This workshop will be offered twice. Both are the same program: Friday, January 17 | 12pm - 1:15pm Wednesday, January 22 | 12pm - 1:15pm Hybrid - Milstein 225 or on Zoom Using an AI literacy framework, this workshop will guide participants as they develop a technical understanding of generative AI and move toward making well-informed decisions about its appropriate use in teaching. Participants will examine practical considerations for tool selection, prompt writing, and output evaluation, with emphasis on critical issues like bias, misinformation, hallucinations, and data privacy. More advanced tools and techniques, including CustomGPTs and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), will be introduced, preparing participants to explore new ways of integrating AI into their teaching practice. Led by Tristan Shippen Please note: Workshop 1 is required as a prerequisite for Workshop 2, From Ideation to Impact: Exploring GenAI in Teaching through Design Thinking From Ideation to Impact: Exploring GenAI in Teaching through Design Thinking (Workshop 2) Friday, January 24 | 10:30am - 12:30pm In-person - Milstein 225.  This interactive workshop empowers educators to explore innovative ways to integrate generative AI into their teaching practices. Using a design thinking approach, participants will identify  instructional challenges, brainstorm solutions, and prototype practical applications of GenAI tools. They will leave with actionable strategies to enhance their classrooms and receive semester-long access to free ChatGPT Team accounts to continue their hands-on exploration of genAI.  Whether you're new to AI or looking to deepen your expertise, this session offers a collaborative space to reimagine teaching with GenAI.
