Previously, she served as Coordinator of the ERC. Fatima recently earned an MS in Data Science from Columbia's Fu Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Science.
One of Fatima's main goals is to make sure that every member of the Barnard community is data literate, whether they decide to continue doing empirical work or not. We are seeing the importance of that every day with coronavirus data and charts and an informed public is crucial, no matter what career path someone takes. Beyond that, she hopes to develop the ERC's work around ethical data practices and expand their current work with nonprofits and community organizations in Harlem to make sure they are engaging with and learning from the community around us.
