El Clarín No. 1, December 1951

Processed by Archives Student Associate Gabriela Ogando Ortega, the collection features materials from El Círculo Hispano—a former Barnard-led club for students and faculty across Columbia University, dedicated to exploring Hispanic life, culture, and literature. The collection materials offer insight into the leadership of the Spanish Department by Professor Amelia Agostini de del Río (née Bonelli), a Puerto Rican writer, scholar, and educator who also oversaw the club's initiatives, leading it to become a robust extension of the Spanish department and an influential hub for Hispanic Studies in New York City. Agostini de del Río was responsible for collecting the materials in this collection.

This collection contains the publications of the Círculo Hispano, the journals El Mirador (1931-1932) and El Clarín (1951-1960), which features poetry by June Jordan in Spanish. It also includes a scrapbook of club activities made by former Professor Amelia Agostini de del Río.
